National Book Critics’ Circle Kicks Off Auction for Literary Inclusion

by Lauren Alwan

The National Book Critics’ Circle, which honors outstanding writing and fosters a national conversation about reading, criticism, and literature, will launch their 2021 Fundraising Auction on Friday, August 20. The auction, which is being held to raise money in support of the NBCC’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, runs until August 27, and features an array of amazing goods and services—including experiences, consults on the business of writing, travel, manuscript consultations, and Ask Me Anything sessions, as well as books, art, and more. Bidding begins August 20, at 8 am PDT, and a free opening event via Zoom will include NBCC Directors Ruben Quesada, Marion Winik, and Anita Felicelli with New Yorker staff writer Katy Waldman in brief readings and discussion about the books and experiences donated for this first-ever auction.
